“We all need this,” CEO Mark Zuckerberg remarked while announcing the feature on his WhatsApp Channel.
Alongside Message Drafts, WhatsApp is working on other privacy-focused updates. Users will soon be able to connect with other people using usernames instead of phone numbers, giving an extra layer of privacy. This way, you can now chat without sharing your phone number!
Additionally, WhatsApp is planning to expand its contact management tools, particularly on WhatsApp Web. Soon, users will be able to add and manage contacts directly from their computer, thereby keeping work and personal contacts separate if they prefer.
With over 500 million monthly active users, India counts as WhatsApp’s largest market. The platform has banned over 12 million accounts in the country between January to September 2024, with an overall total of 65 million account bans.
