Israil (45) from Purnia district in Bihar is having just one dialog along with his fellow farm labourers lately and that’s the impression of agricultural legal guidelines. He doesn’t know something intimately however believes in a single factor: If farmers undergo, he’ll too. Israil has been coming to Punjab to work within the fields for the previous 20 years.
He’s working with farmer Rupinder Singh in Mirpur Maari village. Many labourers are taking care of the fields of farmers and have began fearing for his or her future.
Israil stated the Covid lockdown and farm stir had an adversarial impression on them. “I don’t know the way we are going to feed our households. We receives a commission by the farmers and if they won’t be given their dues, who will give us ours?” he stated.
Rupinder stated already large machines had restricted the necessity of labourers in fields. “Now they ask me what is going to occur when large corporations step in and machines change every part?” he stated. One other farm labourer Munna Paswan stated, “If nobody will purchase the farmer’s produce, how will he pay us? We help farmers.” Nakodar-based farmer Sukhwant Singh stated anxiousness was palpable among the many labourers.
