This Lok Sabha seat has never been a bastion of any one specific political party. Since 1984 it has voted out the incumbent MP. Last time, Kunwar Danish Ali won on BSP’s ticket. He is contesting as a Congress candidate this time. His main challenger is BJP’s Kanwar Singh Tanwar.

A centre of Jat politics in western Uttar Pradesh, this seat has been represented by former deputy PM Chaudhary Charan Singh. In 2014 and 2019, BJP’s Satya Pal Singh won this seat by defeating RLD supremo Ajit Singh and Jayant Chaudhary, respectively. Ajit and Jayant are son and grandson of Charan Singh. This time RLD is contesting in alliance with BJP. RLD has fielded Raj Kumar Sangwan. His main rival is SP’s Amarpal Sharma. BSP’s Praveen Bainsala, a Gujar by caste, has further made the election interesting on this prestigious seat.
Mathura
Hema Malini is the sitting MP from this seat. After winning twice from here, the BJP has fielded Malini again from Mathura. Her main contest is with Mukesh Dhangar of Congress.
Meerut
BJP has fielded Arun Govil, known for playing Lord Rama in Hindi TV serial Ramayana, as its candidate. His main rivals are SP’s Sunita Verma and BSP’s Devvrat Tyagi. BJP had won this seat by less than 5,000 votes in 2019.
Bulandshahr
BJP has fielded MP Bhola Singh. Since 1991, it has lost this seat only once. In 2019, the contest was between BJP and BSP. This time BSP has fielded Girish Jatav, who was the floor leader in Lok Sabha. Congress has fielded Shivram Valmiki.
Ghaziabad
Since 2009 when this seat came into existence, it has been with BJP. Senior BJP leader and defence minister Rajnath Singh was MP from here in 2009. After that it was represented by BJP’s VK Singh, who won this seat twice. This time the party has fielded local MLA Atul Garg. His main rivals are Dolly Sharma from Congress and Nand Kishor Pundir from BSP.
Gautam Buddha Nagar
BJP has again nominated sitting two-time MP Mahesh Sharma, while SP has fielded Mahendra Singh Nagar against him. Nagar is Gurjar by caste, a significant vote bank on this seat. While BSP has fielded Rajendra Singh Solanki.
Aligarh
BJP has repeated MP Satish Kumar Gautam, who had won last time by over 6 lakh votes. SP has put up Brijendra Singh and BSP Hitendra Kumar, alias Bunty Upadhyay.
