Local Trinamool leaders Dilip Mullick and Tatan Gayan were beaten up by women for making “fake videos” by women, supporting BJP, in presence of local Trinamool MLA Sukumar Mahato.
A scuffle broke out between BJP and police during Sandeshkhali police station gherao and agitation programme today afternoon over illegal arrest of a BJP worker and demanding action against the miscreants who were engaged in dacoity yesterday in Sandeshkhali.
BJP women supporters claimed police are torturing women and threatening people at night and arrested a woman supporter, people in the know said. BJP Basirhat candidate Rekha Patra and BJP Mahila Morcha chief Archana Majudmar led the protest. A Trinamool leader was beaten by women in Sandeshkhali over allegations of taking money in the fake purported video.

Rekha Patra said, “Police and miscreants are kicking at my door at midnight. The atrocities of police and Trinamool have increased.” Similar comments have been made by other women.”Trinamool are threatening us and the police are coming to our homes in civil dress,”another woman alleged. In a purported video that surfaced last night, a local BJP leader of Sandeshkhali was heard discussuing that over 70 women had received Rs 2,000 each for taking part in protests against local Trinamool Strongman Shahjahan Sheikh and his aides, who were accused of sexual assault and land grab. The video also showed discussion between the local leader and some people about supply of arms, alcohol and mobile phones. The authenticity of the purported video has not been verified by ET. BJP Mahila Morcha chief Archana Majudmar claimed that everyday a new fake video is released. “False videos are released and women are tortured by police. Every day a new fake video is released when Sandeshkhali women and mothers are tortured by Police. A woman, who was assaulted, from Sandeshkhali and we have information that she is now forced to make a video,” Majumdar claimed.
“We have submitted our complaint against Dilip Mullick and several others. They have come up after Shibu, Shahjahan were arrested. These people also must be arrested,” Rekha Patra said.
Asked about the protest, Sandeshkhali MLA Sukumar Mahato said, “I will listen to people’s complaints. I am here to listen.” Mahato was present in front of Sandeshkhali police station, when women manhandled and beat up several Trinamool local leaders.
