US-Israel-Iran War News Live Updates: Even as U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Lebanon had agreed to pause the infighting, the attacks continued in the region.
According to a report by Al Jazeera, one Lebanese dentist and two children were killed in an Israeli drone attack directed towards Beirut. Earlier in the day, the Israeli military announced air defences had intercepted two projectiles from Lebanon.
U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Monday that he had persuaded Israel and Hezbollah to stop the violence in Lebanon, citing a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump asserted there would be no troops going to Beirut, adding any troops en route to the Lebanese capital had been turned back.
“There will be no Troops going to Beirut, and any Troops that are on their way have already been turned back,” Trump wrote on social media as he cited his “very productive” phone call with Netanyahu.
The development followed Iran’s announcement to pause peace talks with the U.S. due to the Israeli attacks on Lebanon, as efforts to end the conflict in West Asia continues.
“Likewise, through highly placed Representatives, I had a very good call with Hezbollah, and they agreed that all shooting will stop — That Israel will not attack them, and they will not attack Israel”, Trump added.
Netanyahu Warns Hezbollah
After a phone call with Trump, Netanyahu warned Hezbollah and said Israel would strike terror targets in Beirut if it doesn’t cease attacks. “This stance of ours remains unchanged. In parallel, the IDF will continue to operate as planned in southern Lebanon,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Lebanese embassy in the U.S. announced that Hezbollah had accepted a US proposal for a “mutual cessation of attacks.”
