Two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants have been killed in an encounter with safety forces in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday, second such encounter in the previous 24 hours.

“Both have been recognized as Shakir Majid Najar and Hanan Ahmad Seh from Shopian district. Both joined militancy in the month of March 2023. Further Investigation occurring,” Additional Director General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar mentioned.
Acting on particular enter in regards to the presence of militants in the Wanigam Payeen Kreeri space of Baramulla district in north Kashmir, safety forces launched a cordon and search operation there early Thursday morning, a police official mentioned.
He mentioned the search operation became an encounter after the militants fired upon a search celebration of the forces, who retaliated.
In the change of firing, two militants have been killed, the official mentioned, including that their identification and group affiliation was being ascertained.
Incriminating supplies, arms and ammunition, together with an AK 47 rifle and a pistol, have been recovered from the location of the encounter, he mentioned.
This is the second encounter in the final 24 hours in the Valley after a quick lull.
Two militants have been killed when encounter happened after the safety forces foiled an infiltration bid close to the Line of Control (LoC) in Machil sector of Kupwara district on May 3, 2023.
These encounters happened at a time when Kashnir is ready to host G20 assembly later this month. Security has been heightened throughout the Valley.
