“The new consultation paper will come out in the subsequent 4 to six weeks,” TRAI Advisor (Broadcasting & Cable Services) Anil Kumar Bhardwaj informed ET.
It will focus on points like a ceiling on community capability price, multi-TV connection tariff, carriage price, and level-playing discipline with regards to pricing of TV channels.
The regulator may also provoke dialogue on points like minimal subscription interval for a tv channel, itemizing of tv channels as per style/ language, and income share between multi-system operators (MSO) and native cable operators (LCO).
Most of the problems in this consultation paper will give attention to the objects of curiosity for distribution service suppliers like direct-to-home (DTH) and cable TV service suppliers, Bhardwaj stated.
This would be the second consultation paper by Trai to deal with the considerations of various stakeholders over the implementation of the brand new tariff framework.
The regulator had earlier issued a consultation paper on ‘Issues associated to new regulatory framework for broadcasting and cable companies’.
