Sakshi Tanwar is among the most popular faces of Indian television. She rose to fame with Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, where she played Parvati Agarwal. Later, she also became hugely popular as Priya Sharma in Bade Achhe Lagte Hain. Her television career established her as one of the industry’s leading actresses.

During her eight-year stint on Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, Sakshi Tanwar was intensely focused on work. In one of the interviews, she had revealed that she barely attended social gatherings during that period and even skipped weddings.

Unlike many of the characters she played on screen, Sakshi Tanwar never got married in real life. She has largely kept her personal life away from the spotlight and has not publicly announced a husband or marriage. Instead, she chose to embrace motherhood independently, eventually becoming a single parent through adoption.

In 2018, Sakshi became a mother when she adopted a nine-month-old baby girl. She was 45 at the time. The actor named her daughter Dityaa, a name associated with Goddess Lakshmi. Sakshi described her daughter as the “answer to all my prayers” and embraced motherhood as a new chapter.

In another interview with NDTV, Sakshi spoke candidly about the realities of being a single working mother. “I am not a typical working mom because my work is not a daily 9-to-5 job. I don’t have to wake up in the morning, go to work, and come back in the evening. I can plan my shoots as per requirements, and I’m only shooting 50 to 65 days of the year. I can manage my time because parenting is a full-time job, and you don’t have any excuse for not being there,” she said.

Sakshi eventually moved beyond television and made her Bollywood debut in Aamir Khan’s Dangal (2016). She played Daya Kaur, the wife of Mahavir Singh Phogat, portrayed by Aamir. The film became one of Indian cinema’s biggest commercial successes and introduced Sakshi to a much wider film audience.

Most recently, Sakshi was seen in the web show, The Royals. She played the role of a widowed Maharani of Morpur, fondly known as Paddy. The show also starred Ishaan Khatter, Zeenat Aman, Bhumi Pednekar and Vihaan Samat. It is streaming on Netflix.
