PM Modi asserted that people of Bengal will teach the “heartless” TMC a lesson in the upcoming Assembly elections, and accused the state government of blocking central schemes.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said only the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) genuinely cares about the welfare of West Bengal, and asserted that the people of the state will teach a lesson to the “heartless” Trinamool Congress (TMC) and end its 15 years of “Maha Jungle Raj”.
While addressing a public gathering in Singur, Hooghly, PM Modi said that the massive crowd gathered there had only one demand — “asli parivartan” — and a clear desire to end what he described as “Maha Jungle Raj.” He said people from all sections of society had come together with the hope of real change in the state.
The Prime Minister said that under the BJP rule, Bengali was classified as a regional language, Durga Puja was given the UNESCO tag, and the statue of Netaji Chandra Bose was installed in front of India Gate on Kartavya Path in Delhi. He questioned why these measures were not implemented when the TMC was allied with the Congress government.
PM Modi Assails TMC On Misgovernance
Prime Minister Modi went guns blazing against the TMC, accusing the party of taking out its enmity with the BJP on the people of West Bengal. “While it is understandable that they may have differences with Modi and the BJP, it is regrettable that the TMC’s hostility is impacting the welfare of the state’s citizens,” he added.
He also accused the TMC government of not cooperating with the BJP-led Centre for the welfare of the fishermen, which is why they were unable to avail the benefits of the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana. He claimed the Mamata Banerjee-led government was denying children to quality education in PM Shri schools.
Modi further alleged that women were not safe under TMC’s ‘Maha Jungle Raj’, while illegal infiltration and mafia rule were given a free rein in Bengal. He emphasised that Bengal’s youth will not get quality education and meaningful employment as long as the TMC remains in power.
“TMC government should be punished for acting against the interests of Bengal’s people,” he stated, adding that the state needs the double-engine government of the BJP to put it on the path of development.
“The BJP will stop incidents of rape and violence in colleges. Your one vote for the BJP will ensure that events like Sandeshkhali do not happen again in Bengal. It will ensure that hundreds of teachers do not lose their jobs. It is very important to remove TMC. Even a low-level leader thinks he is bigger than the state,” he added.
The Prime Minister said the Centre had repeatedly written to the West Bengal government over the past several years, urging increased vigilance along the borders, but claimed these warnings were ignored. Stressing that infiltration must be halted at all costs, Modi said ensuring border security and preventing illegal entry was the “need of the hour” to safeguard the nation’s future. He said infiltrators would be identified and sent back to their respective countries if the BJP comes to power.
PM Modi Draws Parallels With Kejriwal
The Prime Minister said all state governments that halted development have been punished in elections, citing the example of the Arvind Kejriwal-led former AAP government in Delhi. “We kept urging them to implement the Ayushman scheme that provides free treatment to poor families in Delhi, but they wouldn’t listen and kept doing politics,” he said.
“Therefore, the people of Delhi showed them the way out of power, and now in Delhi, free treatment for the poor is happening through the Ayushman scheme. The people of Bengal have also resolved to do this; they are going to teach a lesson to TMC’s heartless government so that a BJP government is formed here. In Bengal, having a BJP double-engine government is essential.”
