Director Sudipto Sen’s The Kerala Story, the controversial movie which is about to be launched on May 5, has been granted an ‘A’ certificates with 10 cuts by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
Among the 10 cuts is an interview of a former chief minister of Kerala, mentioned an India Today report. The Kerala CM is claimed to be VS Achuthanandan.
Another scene which is believed to have been deleted reportedly had “dialogues and inappropriate references to all Hindu Gods”. Besides, the phrase ‘Indian’ from a dialogue ‘Indian communists are greatest hypocrites’ has additionally been deleted.
The Kerala Story Controversy
Written and directed by Sudipto Sen, The Kerala Story is portrayed as “unearthing” the occasions behind “roughly 32,000 ladies” allegedly going lacking from Kerala.

“Let me stress, I’m not calling for a ban on the movie. Freedom of expression doesn’t stop to be priceless simply because it may be misused. But Keralites have each proper to say loud & clear that this can be a misrepresentation of our actuality,” he tweeted.
Earlier Tharoor had tweeted, “It (the movie) could also be “your” Kerala story. It will not be “our” Kerala story.”
Meanwhile, the Muslim Youth League in Kerala has introduced a Rs 1 crore reward for anybody who proves that 32,000 Malayali ladies have been, in actual fact, radicalised by IS.
