Acceding to long-pending demands of south Chennai residents, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin said Wednesday that no fee would be collected at the Navalur toll plaza from Thursday. He also announced a cut of Rs 2.50 per unit in the electricity tariff for common utilities at small apartments.
“The user fee collected at the Navalur toll plaza will be put on hold from tomorrow,” Stalin said.

The chief minister also said that fee collection at the Perungudi toll plaza had already been stopped. The decision has benefited employees in the information technology sector who pass through the toll plaza on Rajiv Gandhi Road and eased traffic congestion caused by metro work, he added.
