As per Drik Panchang, the sutak period commences nine hours prior to the eclipse. On Sharad Purnima, it is customary to store kheer outdoors for consumption the following day. However, due to the lunar eclipse occurring on the same day, it is essential to adhere to specific timings when placing kheer under the moonlight. The belief is that any consumption, cooking, or engagement in auspicious activities is inauspicious during the Sutak Kaal.
Another prevalent belief states that Tulsi leaves are impervious to the eclipse’s effects. Consequently, adding Basil leaves to kheer does not offer protection from the eclipse’s consequences in this context. Nonetheless, it is believed that the ill effects of an eclipse only prevail during the eclipse’s actual duration.
