According to an official statement, JioCinema achieved a record 59 crore video views on IPL 2024’s opening day, generating 660 crore minutes of watch time.
JioCinema has switched to displaying the number of cumulative views for a live match instead of peak concurrent viewers. The streaming platform started displaying cumulative views for a live match, beginning with the India vs. Australia ODI series 2023.
JioCinema’s free-to-play predict and win game, Jeeto Dhan Dhana Dhan, saw record-breaking gold wins, with the winner and runner-up winning gold worth Rs 50 lakh and Rs 10 lakh, respectively. Over 50 participants won gold worth Rs 1 lakh each. From the second match onwards, prizes will also include a motorcycle, a smart TV, and vouchers for subsequent matches.
“We resumed where we left off last year, and the numbers testify there is no better way to experience the IPL than digital,” said a Viacom18 spokesperson. “India has completed its transition to being a digital-first sports-consuming nation, and the opening game record numbers validate this. We are going to see benchmarks reset and records rewritten throughout this season.”
During the opening match, six leading consumer brands, Dream11, Charged by Thums Up, Parle Products, Britannia, Dalmia Cements, and HDFC Bank, debuted their IPL campaign within the first six overs of the opening game under the newly introduced JioCinema Brand Spotlight.For IPL 2024, JioCinema has 18 sponsors and over 250 advertisers.
The IPL season is available for free streaming on JioCinema, featuring 12 languages, including Haryanvi for the first time, and multi-camera options, including the much-hyped Hero Cam.
