Jaipur: Rajasthan University of Health Services (Amendment) Bill, 2025, introduced in the state Assembly Monday, seeks to empower the state govt to grant status of govt college to constituent colleges of Rajasthan University of Health Sciences (RUHS).
This will enable the govt to develop RUHS College of Medical Sciences into Rajasthan Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) on the pattern of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
The Bill’s statement of objects and reasons states, “In the present scenario, a need is being felt for such a medical institute which would pioneer medical advancements and will become a Centre of Excellence for medical education, research, and patient care in Rajasthan.
For this reason, the CM made an announcement that an institute, namely the Rajasthan Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), shall be established on the pattern of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, to give new dimensions to super specialty medical treatment in Rajasthan.”
“Since the Rajasthan Assembly was not in session, and circumstances existed which rendered it necessary for the Governor of Rajasthan to take immediate action, he, therefore, promulgated the Rajasthan University of Health Sciences (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025 (Ordinance No. 1 of 2025) on July 26, 2025, which was published in the Rajasthan Gazette, Part IV(B), Extraordinary, dated August 1, 2025,” it further stated.
