Jaipur: Rajasthan govt has formed a committee to study the provisions of the new teachers’ eligibility qualification (TEQ) issued by the National Medical Commission notification dated June 30, 2025.
The panel will also prepare a factual report regarding the adjustment of doctors from the health department working in medical colleges in the medical education department.
A committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of commissioner, Directorate of Medical Education. Other members of the committee include Director, Public Health, Ravi Prakash Sharma, additional director (academic) Rashmi Gupta, principal and controller SMS Medical college, Deepak Maheshwari, and principal and controller RNT Medical college Udaipur, Vipin Kumar Mathur, among others. The committee has been mandated with submitting its report to the medical education department in 15 days.
Rajasthan Medical College Teachers Association (RMCTA) strongly opposed the state govt’s order of forming the committee. “RMCTA is of the clear opinion that this step is against the interests of both medical education and doctor teachers.
Therefore, the organisation demands from the govt that this committee should be dissolved with immediate effect, otherwise RMCTA will be forced to launch a statewide agitation.
Earlier also, an attempt was made to accommodate doctors of other cadres in colleges, which was strongly opposed and as a result, the state govt took back its steps,” an RMCTA official said, arguing that the quality of medical education will be adversely affected if doctors lack teaching experience, academic ability, and research.
The All Rajasthan In-Service Doctors Association (ARISDA), meanwhile, welcomed the Aug 22, 2025 order saying it will give them the opportunity to enter medical education. ARISDA president, Ajay Chaudhary, alleged RMCTA is opposing the strengthening of medical education and services in the state due to personal interests.
