QR code campaigns seem to be the flavour of the season, and the JD(S) isn’t sitting this one out. On April 12, the party will launch its own digital-plus-ground protest called ‘Sakappa Saaku Congress Sarkara’ (Enough is Enough, Congress Government), accusing the ruling party of what it calls “dragging the state into an economic crisis, creating a state of financial emergency”.
The protest campaign—fronted by JD(S) youth president Nikhil Kumaraswamy and formally launched by Union minister HD Kumaraswamy—will also see the former chief minister hit the road, touring 15 districts to build momentum for the party as well strengthen the JDS across the state.
“People are suffering and the Congress government is only adding to their burden,” Nikhil said. “How much longer should we tolerate this? That’s why we are launching this fight against the corrupt Congress government.”

The website highlights every broken promise, unfulfilled guarantee, and economic pinch the public has faced under the Siddaramaiah government. “This is not just for our party workers. Anyone who feels cheated by this government can sign up and join the protest,” Nikhil said.
Interestingly, the JD(S) has chosen to go solo on this front—even though it’s in alliance with the BJP in Karnataka. While the BJP launched its state-wide Jan Akrosh Yatra on similar issues, the JD(S) stayed away.
Nikhil clarified there is no friction in the alliance. “We joined hands with the BJP for the Lok Sabha polls because of a shared vision for the country’s welfare. There is no rift or confusion between us,” he said.
Asked about speculation of a JD(S)-BJP merger, he was firm. “There is no question of a merger. Our vote share is rising, our workers are strong, and we remain a proud regional party. We are working for Karnataka and will continue to do so independently.”
He turned his guns back on the Congress, accusing the government of unleashing price hikes across sectors while failing to deliver on its grand election-time promises. “Fuel, milk, power, liquor, stamp duty—everything’s gone up. But where are the guarantees? Where is the support you promised?” he asked.
“Before elections, they made lofty claims. But once in power, they say there’s no money. If there’s no money, why did you promise the sky?” he said.
The Sakappa Saaku website, according to Nikhil, is a digital record of Congress mis-governance. “From honey traps to money traps to tax traps—this government is caught in all kinds of scandals. Meanwhile, the common man is left to suffer.”
He also took a sharp swipe at the Congress’ “selective generosity”. “Just before the bypolls, money under the Gruha Lakshmi scheme was released in three constituencies—within 48 hours. So, they have the funds when votes are at stake, but not for the rest of Karnataka? This is not a protest for headlines. It’s a campaign of accountability. We will take it to every taluk and every booth,” he said.
