Punjab Police on Friday carried out inspection of ATMs and petrol pumps across the state to make sure the CCTV cameras put in within the premises have been practical and security guards deployed, officers stated.
At least 471 police groups, involving over 3,000 police personnel, carried out checks at 2,758 ATMs and 1,861 petrol pumps across the state.

The checking was carried out from 10 am to 2 pm concurrently in all of the 28 police districts of the state on the instructions of Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav, a Punjab Police assertion stated.
The police commissioners (CPs) and senior superintendents of police (SSPs) have been directed to personally monitor this operation and make ample numbers of police groups to hold out checks.
Special DGP Arpit Shukla stated the checking was carried out conserving in thoughts the vulnerability of petrol pumps and ATMs, which could possibly be comfortable targets of anti-social components.
He stated one crew per police station was deployed to conduct inspections and overview security preparations at all such institutions.
