New Delhi: Global health technology major Philips on Tuesday announced an expansion of its collaboration with Nicolab, a cmpany specializing in AI-powered stroke care, to strengthen stroke diagnosis and treatment in India.
The partnership aims to address one of India’s most pressing healthcare challenges by combining Philips’ imaging expertise with Nicolab’s advanced StrokeViewer AI platform, which supports faster diagnosis and clinical decision-making.
According to estimates, India records nearly 1.8 million new stroke cases annually, making it a leading cause of death and disability. Timely diagnosis and treatment remain major hurdles, particularly in smaller cities and rural areas where access to specialists is limited.
Philips said the collaboration seeks to enable clinicians to make quicker and more precise treatment decisions, enhance coordination among stroke teams, and improve patient outcomes through technology integration.
The StrokeViewer platform — the first cloud-based solution in India to receive regulatory clearance for CT Perfusion (CTP) analysis — provides instant AI-generated imaging results, centralized patient data, and real-time communication between specialists. When combined with Philips’ Azurion image-guided therapy platform, clinicians can review scans, plan procedures in 3D, and determine the best interventional routes even before the patient enters the treatment suite.

Nicolab’s StrokeViewer uses AI to analyze stroke imaging biomarkers, supporting faster and more confident diagnosis. The platform allows secure sharing of diagnostic-grade images and patient data on both mobile and desktop devices, facilitating seamless collaboration between stroke specialists.
Philips said it continues to work with hospitals, research institutions, and technology partners worldwide—including Nicolab and the World Stroke Organization (WSO)—to improve stroke diagnosis and treatment outcomes globally.
