Pakistan Objects to Gor’s Jammu and Kashmir Remarks
Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Wednesday US ambassador was summoned over Sergio Gor’s remark and put a strong demarche was lodged with US side.
Pakistan responded immediately after Gor visited Srinagar and said Jammu and Kashmir as an important part of India. Now this statement becomes bigger after Kashmir has been big issue at international forums after India and Pakistan both put their strong region in the area.
Sergio Gor Visits Srinagar for First Time
Sergio Gor visited first time to Jammu and Kashmir since he has taken charge as US ambassador to India. During his visit, he also shared that now US will again rethink its travel advisories for Jammu and Kashmir.
This comment on travel advisory will surely help in tourism and international perceptions for Jammu and Kashmir, when India is looking for greater investment and tourism activity in the region.
Why the Remarks Matter
Jammu and Kashmir has been a significant part for both India and Pakistan and it is been a sensitive issue. The two countries have fought multiple war on this conflict since the independence in 1947.
One hand India has always maintained that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India, while Pakistan says it is disputed and claims region.
