Bhopal: A total of 825 MBBS seats are vacant in private and government medical colleges for second round of NEET UG-2023 counselling. List of eligible candidates for second round (MBBS/BDS Course) are an estimated 7551.
Second round of NEET UG state level counselling has started. Remaining seats from the first round will be filled in the second round.
According to information received from the Directorate of Medical Education, 189 MBBS seats in government medical colleges and 636 in private medical colleges were listed as vacant here on Tuesday. 964 BDS seats in private medical colleges and 25 seats at Government Autonomous College Of Dentistry Indore, are left for second round of counselling. In the first round, estimated more than 9,000 candidates were in queue for a total of 4,500 seats.
A total of 14 government and 12 private medical colleges have been included in the NEET UG counselling 2023. The total number of MBBS seats in 14 government medical colleges is said to be 1908 while the total number of MBBS seats in private colleges has gone up to 2300.
One of the reasons for the increase in MBBS seats in the second round of counselling, 100 seats increase for Indore’s Index Medical college. Earlier there were 150 seats in the college, which has now increased to 250. A total of 139 seats are vacant in Index College for the second round. Second round will take place till September 3. The number of vacant seats was uploaded on the DME portal on August 22 as per the schedule of second round of counselling released by DME. It will be followed by choice filling and seat locking. On August 28, seats will be allotted. The second round of counselling will continue till September 3. If seats remain vacant then the stage of college level counselling can take place.
