Myntra makes Shah Rukh Khan its brand ambassador

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has joined Myntra as a new brand ambassador, the company said on Friday. King Khan will be the face of Myntra’s latest advertising campaign, “Trend IRL” (Trend in Real Life), which aims to establish the e-commerce company as the best place to find and follow fashion trends.
In a series of ads filmed in a traditional office setting, Shah Rukh Khan elegantly displays an array of stylish ensembles, encouraging people in his vicinity to up their own style game.

Pepsi, Hyundai Santro, Nokia, Lux, Dish TV, BYJU’S, Big Basket, Reliance Jio, LG TV, Denver, ICICI Bank, Fair & Handsome, and more are just a handful of the almost 40 companies that SRK has been a brand ambassador of across several categories. Here are the most popular ones.

Pepsi was one of the brands who roped in SRK as its brand ambassador when he was in the peak of his career with back to back hits like Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Dil Toh Pagal Hai, and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. The very first ad featured Shah Rukh Khan with his Kuch Kuch Hota Hai co-actors Kajol and Rani Mukherjee, alongside Shahid Kapoor. He was among the most expensive brand ambassadors of Pepsi.

Frooti made the superstar its brand ambassador in 2013 and released an ad with him playing with children, exploring the joys of pure mango on a hot summer day. “I’m delighted to be the face of Frooti, the mango drink that the entire nation has always been fond of. There’s hardly any brand that conjures up so much joy, so much desire and so much magic around it like Frooti does. I feel really good about this association and I hope you enjoy watching the ad as much as I enjoyed being a part of it,” Shah Rukh had said in a statement.

One of the most memorable ad campaign of the actor has to be that of Nokia. The classic jingle of Nokia phones along with SRK’s charm in multiple ads still brings nostalgia. The company appointed him as a brand ambassador in 2007, targetting audience in the age group of 14-45 years. Shah Rukh’s mass appeal really worked for the brand, and he stayed on the contract for years.

In 1998, Hyundai was not a well-known brand in the Indian scenario, as it launched Santro for the market. The South Koreal company then played a genius game. You guessed it right. Hyundai onboarded Shah Rukh Khan as its face, and it worked like magic. In 2018, he launched a facelift of the car, along with midels like Creta.

In 2017, West Bengal Tourism launched its “Experience Bengal” campaign with Shah Rukh and it was an instant hit. He was already loved by the people of the state, and still owns IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders. The ad featured him speaking Bengali, riding the yellow taxi and in the end romancing a foreigner as the tunes of a popular Rabindrasangeet played.

“Aaj mein aapko batane wala hoon meri khubsurti ka raaz,” said Shah Rukh Khan in a 2005 Lux ad featuring Hema Malini, Juhi Chawla, Kareena Kapoor and Sridevi, who surround him as he sits in a bath tub. He was chosen as the face of Lux’s ‘Har Star Lucky Star’ campaign on the brand’s 75th anniversary. Over the years, he went on to feature in a number of other ads, featuring stars like Katrina Kaif, Deepika Padukone, Sharmila Tagore and Madhuri Dixit.
