Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said there should be no place for double standards on terrorism, and that countries which openly support terrorism are often rewarded, apparently referring to Pakistan, which receives billions of dollars in aid and misuses it to finance cross-border terror.

Speaking at the G7 Outreach Session in Kananaskis, PM Modi said the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam in April this year was an assault on humanity.

Calling terrorism an “enemy of humanity”, the Prime Minister said it is against all countries that uphold democratic values.

“There should be no place for double standards on terrorism… Terrorism is an enemy of humanity. It is against all countries that uphold democratic values. For global peace and prosperity, our thoughts and policies must be clear – if any country supports terrorism, it will have to pay the price for it…,” he said.

Adding further, PM Modi said, “On one hand, we are quick to impose all kinds of sanctions based on our own preferences. On the other hand, countries that openly support terrorism are rewarded.”

PM Modi Highlights Energy Security For All Through Sustainable Way

In his address, the Prime Minister highlighted the need to ensure energy security for all through a sustainable and green pathway and elaborated on India’s global initiatives such as the International Solar Alliance (ISA), the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI), and the Global Biofuels Alliance in pursuit of this objective.

PM Modi On Global South

Calling attention to the concerns and priorities of the Global South, the Prime Minister noted that India considers it its responsibility to bring the voice of the Global South to the world stage.

“Unfortunately, the Global South countries suffer the most from uncertainty and conflicts. They are the first to be hit by crises related to food, fuel, fertilizer, and finance. India considers it its responsibility to bring the priorities and concerns of the Global South to the world stage,” PM Modi said.

PM Modi Says Deepfake Cause Of Great Concern

PM Modi said that deepfake is a cause of great concern. Therefore, watermarking or a clear declaration should be made on AI-generated content, he added. PM Modi noted that while the last century saw competition for energy, this century will require cooperation on technology.

The Prime Minister reiterated India’s experience in democratising the use of technology and its human-centric approach to its deployment. He also called for addressing global governance issues to tackle concerns around artificial intelligence (AI) and to promote innovation in the field.

PM Modi’s First Canada Visit In A Decade

This is PM Modi’s first visit to Canada in a decade. During his short trip, he met key world leaders including Canadian PM Mark Carney UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, France President Emmanuel Macron, Italy’s PM Giorgia Meloni, and Japan’s Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Kananaskis.

PM Modi also held discussions with South Korean President Lee Jae-Myung, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Mexico President Claudia Sheinbaum, South Africa President Cyril Ramaphosa, Australia PM Anthony Albanese, European Council President António Costa, EU Chief Ursula von der Leyen, Brazil President Lula
