Bhopal: Deans of three newly-established govt medical colleges conveyed optimism regarding the future prospects of medical education and healthcare enhancements in their respective regions. The establishment of these medical colleges stems from upgrading district hospitals, which have been designated as associated hospitals for the medical institutions.
The deans articulated their perspectives on anticipated advancements in medical training and healthcare services. They emphasised the significance of education from govt medical colleges and continuous innovation in the medical sphere.
“We believe that the future of medical education is promising, and it will substantially enhance healthcare quality in our regions,” said Sunderlal Patwa Govt Medical College, Mandsaur dean Dr Shashi Gandhi. The district hospital currently maintains 600 beds, with plans to incorporate 200 additional beds imminently.
All three medical colleges have enrolled their inaugural batch of 100 MBBS students, fulfilling National Medical Commission (NMC) minimum standard requirements.
Virendra Kumar Sakhlecha Govt Medical College, Neemuch, dean, Dr Arvind Kumar Ghanghoria said, “Neemuch district hospital caters to patients from neighbouring districts and Rajasthan. We presently have 440 beds, and expansion to 600 beds will enable increasing MBBS seats to 150 by the next academic session.”
Govt medical college, Seoni likewise accommodates 100 MBBS seats during the current 2024-25 session. The medical college is affiliated with the district hospital and plans to construct a new hospital within its premises.
