Mumbai, 29th November, 2023: Getting healthcare is essential to our daily lives. Medical science is benefiting from research and new discoveries that are advancing best practises and understanding. Training healthcare professionals(HCP) is a major component of this advancement. HCPs encounter numerous challenges when working in a regular educational environment. However, as technology advances, more and more aspiring and practising doctors are choosing online learning to further their education and remain current with research findings.An extensive survey has been undertaken by MediSage to find out how HCPs feel about online medical education. The “Perception Survey on Online Medical Education for Indian Healthcare Practitioners” project examines participation rates, engagement barriers, and strategies suggested by healthcare professionals to overcome the difficulties HCPs encounter when attempting to access online medical education.
With 205 HCPs surveyed, the study looks into the many obstacles that HCPs have when working in the field of online medical education. The poll offers a thorough examination of online education in the healthcare industry, covering everything from demographic data to views on peer interaction.
Survey Highlights:
- 73.41% of surveyed HCPs were found to be actively participating in online healthcare education
- About 80% of HCPs revealed that webinars are their preferred choice for online healthcare education, with medical conferences following closely at 55.6%
- Among all specialties, the major obstacles in online education were lack of motivation, limited access to software tools and privacy/security concerns of online platforms
- 70% of healthcare professionals indicated that conflicts in their work schedules were the major barrier to online education
- Over 50% of the HCPs expressed confidence in the utility of online education
- A significant number of HCPs strongly advocated for immediate policy changes or government initiatives to tackle barriers to online education
- Approximately 60% of HCPs supported strategies to overcome barriers
Notably, governments of several countries have recognized the importance of HCPs’ role and coming up with strategies to help them overcome barriers in the healthcare sector. Such initiatives include improving Internet infrastructure in underserved areas to ensure that HCPs can access essential resources and information.
