Junaid Safdar, grandson of former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and son of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, recently married Shanzay Ali Rohail in a grand wedding ceremony in Lahore. The wedding caught all the internet’s attention as Shanzay wore an emerald green lehenga designed by well-known Indian fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee.
Her outfit featured traditional design elements, rich detailing, contrasting panels, and a heavy gold border. She paired the lehenga with forest green and rose-coloured dupattas, reflecting the designer’s signature heritage style.
The wedding rituals continued with the Nikah ceremony on Saturday at the same venue. Senior leaders, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, were present at the event. For the main wedding ceremony, the bride reportedly chose a red saree created by another popular Indian designer, Tarun Tahiliani.
After the wedding rituals, photographs from the occasion went viral online, with social media users debating over her choice of attire.

Many users criticised Shanzay for selecting Indian designers instead of Pakistani ones, especially given her association with one of the country’s most influential political families. Some questioned whether such choices were appropriate in the current atmosphere that promotes local talent and national pride.
Others, however, defended her decision and argued that fashion should not be limited by borders. They pointed out that Indian brides and celebrities often wear outfits by Pakistani designers such as Faraz Manan and Mohsin Naveed Ranjha.
One user wrote, “To everyone criticizing her choice, I’m sure the outfit you chose for yourself at your wedding or in daily life isn’t liked by everyone. It’s 2026, can we all grow up and stop criticizing brides for wearing whatever they want at their own wedding, paid for by themselves/their family?”
