While inaugurating the Rajkot International Airport and projects worth over ‘860 cr, Modi took a dig at the Opposition and said “those who kept the people of the country ever longing, those who had nothing to do with the aspirations and desires of the people are a little extra angry today seeing the dreams of the people coming true.”
Keeping up the attacks, Modi said: “The corrupt and dynasts have even changed the name of their gang. The faces are old, sins are old, ways are old, only the name of the gang has changed. Their ways are the same and so are their wishes.”
“When middle class gets something cheap, they say the farmers are not getting the right price; when the farmers get higher price, they say inflation has gone up. This duplicity is their politics.”
Modi added: “What is their track record on price rise? When in power, they had pushed the price rise to 10%. Had our government not contained the prices, the prices would have been touching the sky in India. If the country had the earlier governments, milk would have cost ‘300 per litter and pulses would have sold for ‘500 per kg. From the school fees of the children to the cost of communication everything would have grown by a few times.”
“It is our government that inspite of Covid-19 and Russia Ukraine war kept price rise in check. In our neighbouring countries, prices are rising by 25 to 30%, but not in India. We have been trying to contain price rise with total sensitivity and will continue doing so in future,” he said.In the last 9 years, the Modi said that the central government has worked towards making the lives of every social class and region easier. “We have guaranteed ‘Sushasan’ or good governance and we are also accomplishing it today”, Modi said, “Be it the poor, dalits, tribals or the backward class, we have always worked towards improving their lives.” Underlining that the levels of poverty in the country are reducing at a very fast rate, the he cited a recent report which states that 13.5 crore citizens have come out of poverty in the last 5 years and said that these people are emerging as a neo-middle class in the country. Listing the steps taken in the last 9 years to improve connectivity, Modi said while in 2014, only 4 cities had metro network, today metro network has reached more than 20 cities in India. Modern trains like Vande Bharat are running on 25 routes; the number of airports have more than doubled from 70 in 2014.
