In a post on site X, Mayawati said Kumar has decided to hold only one post – as BSP vice-president, a post he has held for years – in favour of the party and the movement. The BSP chief further said that she welcomes the decision. “In his place, Saharanpur district resident Randhir Beniwal has been entrusted with the responsibility of national coordinator. So now, Rajya Sabha MP Ramji Gautam and Beniwal will both handle responsibilities of different states under my directions…,” Mayawati said. Beniwal hails from the Jat community and has been associated with the BSP for several years. Gautam and Anand Kumar were appointed BSP national coordinators on March 2 after Mayawati removed Kumar’s son and her nephew Akash from the post. She had held Akash’s father-in-law and former BSP Rajya Sabha member Ashok Siddarth responsible for influencing Akash and trying to divide the party. She had expelled Siddarth also from the party.
A day later, she also expelled Akash from BSP after he issued a press statement underlining that though he humbly accepts Mayawati’s decision, his detractors should not feel his political career is over.
