How will you achieve a Maoist-free Chhattisgarh by March 31, 2026?
Our resolve is firm that Chhattisgarh will be free from Maoist violence by March 2026. The Maoist cadre structure has almost collapsed. Those who remain have only two choices: surrender or face the law. Under the leadership of PM Modi and home minister, decisive action has been taken. In the last two years more than 500 Maoists have been neutralised, over 2,600 have surrendered, and more than 1,900 arrested. Areas once known for gunfire now echo with the sound of schools and markets. Neutralisation of top leaders such as Basavaraju, Sudhakar, and Madvi Hidma has broken the network’s backbone. Operations like Karriguda in Bijapur proved that extremism is in its final phase. Network coverage has improved, digital transactions have increased, and e-governance has reached homes.
What changes have been made in surrender & rehabilitation policy?
The policy has been made more humane and practical. Surrendered individuals receive ₹10,000 per month for three years. Skill training is provided to make them self-reliant, and declared rewards are paid directly to them. Over 15,000 houses under PM Awas are being built for rehabilitation. Villages that become completely free of Maoist presence receive development works worth ₹1 crore. These reforms have led to a sharp rise in surrenders. Pandum Cafe run by former cadres in Bastar shows how employment and peace are replacing violence.
How do you plan to achieve the GOI target of drug-free India, especially in light of recent trafficking cases?
It is a matter of concern, but Chhattisgarh police has taken action. We are carrying out investigation in such syndicates and adopted top to bottom and bottom to top approaches in exposing these syndicates and taking lawful action against all those involved in manufacturing, supply and distribution of drugs. What are your plans for the development of Nava Raipur?
Nava Raipur Atal Nagar is being developed as a modern and smart capital that represents the aspirations of a new Chhattisgarh. Our priority is to create employment and skill opportunities for local youth through education, technology, and industry. The city is being positioned as an AI Data Centre Park, medicity, pharma hub, and education hub. By integrating Nava Raipur with Raipur, Durg, and Bhilai, we are shaping a State Capital Region on the lines of leading urban clusters. IT parks and plug-and-play facilities are being created to attract technology companies and generate knowledge-based jobs.
How will industrial development reach remote areas?
Chhattisgarh was founded on the principle of Antyodaya, and our industrial policy follows the same spirit. Along with our natural strength in core mineral sectors, we are encouraging investment in new-age industries such as IT, AI, green energy, and pharmaceuticals. Peace returning to Bastar has opened fresh possibilities for investment and jobs. Roads, railways, and logistics networks are being strengthened to ensure last-mile delivery. Tourism has been given industry status to expand homestays and hospitality in rural and tribal areas. Investment proposals worth ₹7.83 lakh crore received through national and international summits reflect growing confidence in this approach.
What is your roadmap for Bastar’s development?
Bastar is a priceless heritage of India and a growth engine for the future. Projects worth about ₹52,000 crore are under way. The industrial policy provides special incentives for Bastar. A 118-acre industrial zone is being developed at Niyanar near Nagarnar. Agriculture, fisheries, and irrigation are being expanded, and ITIs are being modernised with an investment of ₹450 crore to benefit tribal youth. The Bodhghat multipurpose project will generate 200 MW power, 5,000 tonnes annual fish production, irrigation for about seven lakh hectares, and drinking water security.
How will corruption be checked to sustain development?
Zero tolerance for corruption is our highest priority. Transparency is the strongest weapon, so governance has been largely digitised. The message is clear: honest systems will be strengthened and corruption at any level will not be tolerated.
What steps are being taken to improve Ease of Doing Business?
A Single Window System 2.0 provides all approvals at one point in minimum time. Jan Vishwas Act has decriminalised minor technical lapses, replacing prosecution with reasonable penalties. The industrial policy links incentives to job creation. Startup incubation and plug-and-play facilities in Nava Raipur are attracting entrepreneurs.
What is the present investment scenario in the state?
Chhattisgarh has received proposals worth ₹7.83 lakh crore through summits in India, Japan, and South Korea. Work has begun on several projects. A semiconductor project of ₹1,100 crore has already broken ground. India’s first AI Data Centre Park is being developed in Nava Raipur. Medicity and pharma parks are progressing. Improved logistics and peace in Bastar are helping proposals translate into reality.
