Actor and noted production controller Kannan Pattambi passed away late last night while undergoing treatment for a kidney-related ailment.
Malayalam actor and production controller Kannan Pattambi passed away on Sunday night at the age of 62. He died at around 11:40 pm on January 4 while undergoing treatment for a kidney-related ailment at a private hospital in Kozhikode. The news of his death was confirmed by his brother, filmmaker and actor Major Ravi.
Kannan Pattambi’s brother Major Ravi confirms his death
Major Ravi confirmed the sad news of his younger brother’s demise on Facebook in a post written in Malayalam. Sharing a photo of Kannan, he wrote, “My dear brother, Kannan Pattambi, who was a film production controller, passed away at 11:41 PM last night. The funeral will be held at Pattambi’s home in Njangattiri today at 4 PM. My younger brother, Kannan Pattambi, has left for his heavenly abode. Om Shanti.”
About Kannan Pattambi
Kannan Pattambi was associated with the Malayalam film industry for several years, working both as a production controller and as an actor. He was the brother of Major Ravi, a former Indian Army officer who later became a filmmaker known for making films based on military and national security themes.
Kannan collaborated on several projects produced or directed by his brother. One of the notable films was Mission 90 Days, which was based on Major Ravi’s personal experiences during the investigation into the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case. Kannan was involved in the production of the film.
He also worked on multiple films starring Mohanlal. Among them was Pulimurugan, which became the first Malayalam film to cross the ₹100 crore mark at the box office. Kannan’s filmography includes 23 Malayalam films, including 12th Man, Karam Yodha, Kurukshetra, Black and Vettam. He also served as the production controller for the 2010 film Kandahar, which featured Mohanlal and Amitabh Bachchan.
