While the nation gears up to celebrate the 75th year of the foundation of India’s Constitution, speaking about the power it has enshrined in our everyday lives, Prime Minister Narendra Modi once again called upon all his NDA colleagues to work towards strengthening constitutional values.
India is a vibrant country, but every citizen needs to be made aware of what the Indian Constitution stands by and stands for, it should be made a principle and everyone should be proud of it, said PM Modi at the meeting with NDA chief ministers, according to sources.
He also called upon his colleagues to celebrate the 75th year of the Indian Constitution by holding multiple programmes in their respective states and to send a strong message. Sources said that at the central government level, a group of ministers has already been formed to look into the celebrations of this big occasion. The group is led by culture minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and it has members from the union cabinet, including BJP’s alliance partners like Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu from the Telugu Desam Party and Lalan Singh from the Janata Dal (United).
Expressing confidence in the alliance which has retained power in the April-June Lok Sabha elections, giving Narendra Modi a historic third straight term as Prime Minister, the PM once again said that it is the duty of his government to ensure the welfare of the people. Connecting with the public at the grassroots level and resolving their concerns is going to be of vital importance, he said. Just last week, while speaking at a council of ministers meeting in Delhi, the Prime Minister had highlighted the same principle, saying that they are in the service of the public.
Modi seems to have underscored the point yet again, that it is a diverse bouquet of flowers that he has in the NDA, but each one of them has its own strength to offer, and therefore it is important to leverage the overall strength of the alliance. Sources also said that he highlighted once again that theirs is an alliance, which has been natural and strong over the years.
Bharatiya Janata Party national president JP Nadda also stated at the end of the meeting that the Prime Minister’s thrust was on being pro-people and pro-good governance (P2G2).
This was the first CM conclave of NDA partners since the alliance retained power in June. The first such meeting of the alliance was held in the national capital a couple of months ago. The meeting held in Panchkula on Thursday was on the sidelines of the oath-taking of Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini and his cabinet. It holds a lot of significance considering the upcoming elections in Jharkhand and especially Maharashtra where a three-party alliance is in power.
The BJP was able to clinch an astounding victory in Haryana recently, which will give the NDA a lot of hope and strength in the upcoming elections, especially in Maharashtra. Certain sections that had deserted the alliance, especially the OBC and Dalit voters, because of the campaign run by the opposition in the Lok Sabha elections, seemed to be back with the BJP in Haryana, and the saffron party which leads the alliance at the Centre is extremely confident that this will deliver similar results in Maharashtra.

Multiple resolutions were moved for various issues. Defence minister Rajnath Singh moved a resolution for the celebration of the 75 years of the Indian Constitution.
Maharashtra chief minister Shinde moved a resolution congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi for winning the Haryana elections. He was seconded by Nagaland chief minister, Neiphiu Rio and Goa CM Pramod Sawant.
While Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu spoke about Atmanirbhar Bharat at the meeting, Maharashtra deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis elaborated on the mission to make India a $5-trillion-dollar economy. Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami discussed the digital economy.
Union home minister Amit Shah spoke about the larger picture of the NDA, suggesting some more steps to strengthen the alliance, including a platform for sharing thoughts on varied subjects and a common website for the alliance.
Speaking about the NDA, Prime Minister Narendra Modi told his colleagues that it was extremely significant to note that such a strong alliance was in power, compared to the previous Congress-led regime. The strengths of each and every alliance partner complement the others, he said, according to sources. The prime minister also gave the alliance a crucial 11-point agenda to focus on in the coming months and even suggested that more and more such brainstorming sessions of the NDA must take place and that these conclaves must happen at least twice a year.
