Ending a decade-long wait, Shreyas Iyer-led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) triumphed over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Sunday’s KKR vs SRH Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 Final to secure their third IPL title. Previously, under Gautam Gambhir’s captaincy, KKR won the IPL trophy in 2012 and 2014.

Captain Shreyas Iyer was presented with the IPL trophy by BCCI President Rose Binny and Secretary Jay Shah. The IPL 2024 winning captain then recreated Argentina’s legendary footballer Lionel Messi’s iconic FIFA World Cup winning celebration in Qatar.

In a thrilling finale in December 2022 in Qatar, Messi-led Argentina edged past France to lift the FIFA World Cup title.
Upon receiving the trophy, Messi made his teammates wait on the podium for a few minutes before joining them.
