Investigators said the operation uncovered a larger drug network after an initial vehicle inspection revealed narcotics allegedly concealed by one of the accused.

An anti-drug operation in Kerala’s Thrissur district led to the arrest of seven people, including two women, and the seizure of 308 grams of MDMA, uncovering a significant drug distribution network.
Vehicle Check Leads To Initial Arrests
The operation began during a routine vehicle inspection at Vaniyampara in Thrissur, where the City District Anti-Narcotic Special Action Force intercepted a Swift car travelling from a resort in Palakkad towards Thrissur.
Police arrested four occupants of the vehicle, identified as Shifas (26), Vidya (28), Jishnu (27) and Sreelakshmi (20), all residents of the Guruvayur-Pavaratty region.
During the search, officers allegedly recovered two grams of MDMA that had been concealed in the private part of one of the women travelling in the car.
Probe Expands After Interrogation
The recovery prompted investigators to widen the investigation. Based on information gathered during the interrogation of the accused, police carried out a search at the residence of Shifas.
Officials said they recovered an additional 18 grams of MDMA from the house, indicating that the case was linked to a larger drug supply operation.
Workshop Search Uncovers Massive Drug Stock
The investigation later led officers to an aluminium fabrication workshop located in Pancharamukku, Chavakkad.
During the search, police allegedly recovered 288 grams of MDMA hidden inside three packets placed within a single cover. The latest seizure significantly increased the total quantity of drugs recovered during the operation.
Following the workshop raid, police arrested three more suspects identified as Shabir (34), Anshad (31) and T.T. Sumesh (25). Investigators believe the trio played a role in the drug distribution network.
Mobile Phone Evidence Helped Crack Network
Police said mobile phone evidence proved crucial in tracing the remaining accused and identifying the location of the larger drug stash.
With a total seizure of 308 grams of MDMA, officials described the operation as one of the biggest drug busts recorded in Thrissur district in recent months. The investigation is continuing to determine the full extent of the alleged narcotics network and identify any additional people connected to the case.
