Karnataka Power Tussle, Congress Crisis Live Updates: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Saturday ended the speculation over a change in leadership within the Congress party in the state by dismissing rumors and stressing unity.
The two leaders met over breakfast today after the Congress high command on Friday asked them to meet and resolve their differences. Addressing reporters after the meeting, the CM and his deputy sought to downplay speculations of a rift within the Karnataka Congress unit, saying they will take on the Opposition together and want to bring the party to power again after the next elections.
The CM said that today’s meeting was aimed at clearing a “month-long confusion.” He added that, during the meeting, they reviewed preparations for the 2028 Assembly elections and upcoming local body polls, which he termed “very important” for his party. He emphasised that just as they worked together to bring the party to power in 2023, they have now resolved to move forward in the same spirit.
Further, Shivakumar said that he would continue to follow directives from the Congress high command and stressed that there were no internal factions within the party.
Speculation over a potential leadership change in Karnataka had intensified on November 20, when the Siddaramaiah government completed half its term. Catch all the live updates here.
