Supported by cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, ISPL is a T10 tennis ball cricket league that bridges the gap between street cricket and professional stadium play.
ISPL Commissioner Suraj Samat highlighted that the partnership with Jio Star aims to expand the league’s reach and enhance its commercial value. Under the agreement, Jio Star will broadcast the league and manage monetisation across TV, digital, and on-ground platforms, retaining 25% of the revenue while ISPL retains the remaining 75%.
The first season was aired on Sony Pictures Networks India’s Sony Sports Network and SonyLIV.
Samat also noted that Akshay Kumar’s Srinagar team has drawn investments from Nepalese billionaire Binod Chaudhary’s son Rahul Chaudhary and Suhail Kannampilly of The Fern Hotels and Resorts, raising the team’s valuation to ₹300 crore, up from ₹251 crore.
The second season of ISPL is scheduled from January 26 to February 15. Trials for season 2 spanned 55 cities, a significant increase from the 18 cities covered in the first season. “Registrations for ISPL have surged to over 30 lakh participants, highlighting its growing popularity,” Samat added.Sachin Tendulkar, a core committee member of ISPL, commented, “It’s encouraging to see the growing interest in ISPL from across the country. Tennis ball cricket is an exciting format, and ISPL provides a competitive platform for players to showcase their skills. The inaugural season featured some outstanding performances, and this year, the league has expanded to more cities to identify emerging talent. I hope these players seize this opportunity and gain the recognition they deserve.”ISPL plans to host matches in Chennai and Hyderabad, in addition to Thane. “We aim to expand to the southern region and eventually cover all six cities in future seasons,” Samat said.

- Chennai: Actor Suriya/Route Mobile promoters
- Hyderabad: Ram Charan/Prestige Estates promoter Irfan Razack
- Bengaluru: Hrithik Roshan/KVN Enterprises LLP
- Kolkata: Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor/Aspect Global Ventures
The six teams were sold for ₹1,165 crore under a 10-year agreement. After this period, team ownership will transition to perpetuity, with owners contributing a percentage of revenue as a franchise fee.
Plans are also underway to expand ISPL to the Middle East, with Saudi Arabia emerging as a key venue after discussions with the UAE failed to materialise. The league seeks to tap into expatriate talent and attract international viewers.
The ISPL Middle East will feature six teams from Doha, Jeddah, Muscat, Kuwait, Abu Dhabi, and Bahrain. Three of the six team owners have already been secured, including Akshay Kumar (Abu Dhabi), Amitabh Bachchan (Jeddah), and Tamil actor Suriya (Doha).
