Broadly, the seminar involved briefings and presentations, display of products & capabilities and an intensive interaction among the representatives of the Indian and Kazakhstan defence industries & ministry of defence officials, leading to a series of discussions, opportunities and options.
The participation of large number of officers from Kazakhstan Ministry of Defence underscored the importance that Kazakhstan attaches to fostering deeper strategic and defence partnerships with India, sending a strong signal of intent towards expanding Indo-Kazakh cooperation in this critical domain, the Embassy said. This seminar was envisaged as a platform to explore synergies under the framework of our Strategic Partnership and to initiate structured conversations around defence co-development, technology transfer and industrial collaboration.
Y K Sailas Thangal, Ambassador of India to Kazakhstan delivered the keynote Address to the delegates wherein he not only “exhorted to exploit these opportunities but also give impetus to the spirit of co-development and joint ventures” in many areas of advanced capabilities and niche technologies between India & Kazakhstan.
India’s defence industry has undergone a transformational journey over the past decade. Guided by the vision of “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” — or self-reliant India — the sector has seen significant reforms to boost domestic manufacturing, innovations, start ups and exports. Today, India is an emerging exporter of high-quality, reliable and cost-effective defence equipment and technologies. Indian companies, both public and private, are producing a wide range of systems — from land and naval platforms to missiles, electronics, drones, Artificial Intelligence and cybersecurity solutions.
The bilateral defence cooperation has grown steadily over the years — from joint military exercises and high-level defence dialogues to capacity building and focused training programmes. The goodwill and trust that define India-Kazakhstan military-to-military relations, form a strong foundation for expanding the cooperation to the industrial and technological domains also.
