New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Indore, in partnership with The Bhupat & Jyoti Mehta Family Foundation (MFF), has announced the establishment of two new academic schools: the Mehta Family School of Sustainability and the Mehta Family School of Biosciences and Biomedical Engineering.
These schools mark MFF’s seventh and eighth academic partnerships in India and will be housed within a combined area of approximately two lakh square feet of modern infrastructure. The initiative is aimed to strengthen research and education in sustainability, health sciences, and emerging technologies.
It is stated that The Mehta Family School of Sustainability will be the first in India to offer a BTech in Environmental Economics and Sustainable Engineering. It will also establish three dedicated Centres of Excellence in- Energy Systems and Battery Technology, Environmental Economics and Environmental Law, Water and Climate Studies.
According to the institute, the school aims to train over 1,500 graduates and professionals in the next decade through its BTech, Executive Master’s, and PhD programs.
The Mehta Family School of Biosciences and Biomedical Engineering will focus on interdisciplinary research at the intersection of Biology, Technology, Data, and AI. Areas of emphasis will include Health Informatics, Wearable Health Technologies, AI in Healthcare, Drug Discovery, and Molecular Biology.
The schools also aim to establish a biomanufacturing hub to support innovation in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and medical devices.
