New delhi: Severe heatwave conditions are expected to persist in the plains of worthwest India over the next 4-5 days. Regions such as the Western Himalayan area, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh are also likely to experience heat wave conditions during this period. Severe heat waves have been prevalent in many parts of Rajasthan, with isolated pockets in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh, West Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and the Gujarat region also experiencing similar conditions.
Isolated areas in Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and East Madhya Pradesh reported warm night conditions. On Saturday, Phalodi in West Rajasthan recorded the highest maximum temperature in the country at 50.0°C.
Temperature Ranges
On Saturday, maximum temperatures ranged from 44-49°C in most parts of West Rajasthan and some parts of East Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and isolated pockets of Gujarat, Haryana, Telangana, and Marathwada as heatwave gripped several regions. Other regions, such as Punjab, East Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh, recorded temperatures between 40-44°C. These temperatures were significantly above normal by 4-6°C in many parts of West Rajasthan, some parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Bihar, and isolated pockets of Punjab, East Rajasthan, Gujarat, West Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, East Uttar Pradesh, Assam, and the northeastern states.

- Rajasthan & Madhya Pradesh: No significant change in maximum temperatures for the next 3 days, followed by a decrease of about 2°C.
- Maharashtra & Gujarat: No significant change in maximum temperatures for the next 24 hours, followed by a decrease of 2-3°C.
- East India: Maximum temperatures are expected to drop by 4-5°C in the next 24 hours, remain steady for the subsequent 2 days, and then gradually rise by 2-4°C.
- Northeast India: Maximum temperatures are expected to drop by 6-8°C over the next 2 days, with no significant changes thereafter.
- Rest of the Country: No significant changes in maximum temperatures expected.
Heatwave warnings for the next 5 DaysHeatwave Conditions: Expected in many parts of Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and isolated parts of West Uttar Pradesh from May 26 to 28, with a gradual reduction thereafter. Other regions including Jammu, Himachal Pradesh, East Uttar Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, West Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Gujarat will experience heat wave conditions on varying days from May 26 to 30.
Hot and Humid Weather: Anticipated in parts of Gujarat from May 26 to 30, Bihar on May 27, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim on May 26.
Warm Night Conditions: Expected in isolated pockets of Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi from May 26 to 30, West Rajasthan from May 26 to 29, Uttar Pradesh and East Rajasthan from May 26 to 28, and West Madhya Pradesh on May 26 and 27.
