Haryana CM Refutes Delhi’s Water Supply Allegations

Saini

the
Delhi
government

Haryana

water.
Saini
emphasized
that
his
administration
is
actually
supplying
more
water
to
Delhi
than
what
was
initially
agreed
upon.
This
assertion
comes
amidst
accusations
from
the
AAP
government,
led
by
Chief
Minister
Arvind
Kejriwal,
claiming
that
Haryana
is
responsible
for
the
acute
water
shortage
facing
Delhi
residents.

Saini
criticized
the
AAP
government
for
what
he
perceives
as
a
mismanagement
and
poor
distribution
of
water
resources
within
Delhi.
He
accused
Kejriwal
of
misleading
the
public
and
attempting
to
cover
up
his
own
administration’s
failures
by
blaming
Haryana
for
Delhi’s
water
woes.
“Arvind
Kejriwal
is
misleading
people.
We
are
giving
water
to
Delhi
over
and
above
the
agreed-upon
quantity,”
Saini
stated
during
a
press
interaction
in
Karnal.

The
BJP
leader
also
commented
on
the
recent
exit
polls,
expressing
confidence
in
the
NDA’s
victory
and
predicting
a
significant
win
for
the
BJP
in
Haryana,
including
all
10
Lok
Sabha
seats
and
the
Karnal
assembly
bypoll
seat.
Saini’s
remarks
reflect
his
optimism
about
the
BJP’s
electoral
prospects
and
its
governance
record.

Addressing
Kejriwal’s
focus
on
governance,
Saini
accused
the
Delhi
Chief
Minister
of
prioritizing
corruption
over
development
and
urged
the
AAP
government
to
concentrate
on
improving
services
for
its
citizens
rather
than
deflecting
blame
onto
Haryana.
“Rather
than
talking
here
and
there,
they
should
ensure
proper
management
and
distribution
of
water
to
Delhi
residents,”
he
added.

The
backdrop
to
these
statements
is
a
severe
water
crisis
in
Delhi,
with
the
AAP
government
recently
pointing
fingers
at
Haryana
for
not
releasing
sufficient
water
from
the
Yamuna
River.
In
response,
Haryana
officials
have
countered
these
claims
by
stating
that
they
are
supplying
1,049
cusecs
of
water
to
Delhi,
which
surpasses
the
agreed
quantity.

Further
complicating
matters,
Delhi
Water
Minister
Atishi
recently
penned
a
letter
to
Union
Jal
Shakti
Minister
Gajendra
Singh
Shekhawat,
highlighting
a
significant
drop
in
water
levels
at
the
Wazirabad
barrage
due
to
insufficient
releases
by
Haryana.
The
Delhi
government
has
also
approached
the
Supreme
Court,
seeking
intervention
to
compel
Haryana
to
release
additional
water
from
Himachal
Pradesh
to
address
its
pressing
water
shortages.

This
ongoing
dispute
underscores
the
complexities

water
sharing
between
states
and
highlights
