INDORE: The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) Medical College & Hospital, Indore, on Friday marked a historic achievement, announcing that it has received the coveted Letter of Permission (LoP) from the National Medical Commission (NMC) to commence the MBBS course with an intake of 50 seats from the academic session 2025–26.
According to ESIC Indore Deputy Director, ESIC Pulkit Jain, the college administration attributed this success to the “relentless hard work, excellent coordination, and dedication” of the entire institutional team over the past seven to eight months.
“The permission for the MBBS course will usher in a new age of high-quality medical education and healthcare access in Indore, directly benefiting students, insured persons, and the general public” he said.
He added that the credit for this landmark achievement is specifically given to the Dean Dr Rajesh U Sangram while the cooperative efforts of Joint Director Dr Mo Rubani and all departmental and staff members were also instrumental in achieving this goal.
The NMC’s decision comes after the institution completed comprehensive infrastructural and academic preparations to meet world-class standards.
Key preparations include
Campus and Hospital: A sprawling 65-acre campus features a six-storey operational hospital with 420 beds, including 20 emergency beds. The hospital building has OPDs on the first to third floors, while classrooms and the administrative block occupy the upper levels.
Academic Facilities: The college has established new, separate hostels for boys and girls and residential quarters for faculty. It boasts smart classrooms equipped with modern technology, a fully functional digital library, and all essential teaching aids.
Faculty and Staff, Faculty recruitment is complete, with a total strength of around 102 members.
Medical Compliance: All laboratory facilities, including workstations, medical equipment, and cadaver storage chambers, are ready as per NMC standards. Blood bank services are currently operational via an MoU and are scheduled to transition to an in-house facility soon.
