Dubai Sheikh Hamdan drove with Elon Musk through the city
One of the most popular events during his visit was the time Sheikh Hamdan decided to give Elon Musk a ride in his car through the city. The move, which looked very casual, was actually full of meaning. It symbolised trust, openness, and equality between the leadership and innovators. These events help make world leaders more human and make it clear that the best results for collaboration can be achieved if the relationship between innovators and leaders transcends the boardroom.Through the sharing of photos and thoughts on social media, Dubai emerged as a progressive and well-connected city through the efforts of Sheikh Hamdan. Social media has emerged as an important component in diplomatic efforts, and through the tweets posted by the Crown Prince, transparency, approachability, and optimism for a better future emerged. The addition of family pictures further helped in making it less hard-hitting, through which leaders appeared to be down-to-earth. A response on Twitter by Elon Musk further helped in achieving good publicity.
Dubai Loop project showcases the city’s vision for future transport
The conference also highlighted the Dubai Loop project, which is an underground transport network with the intent of revolutionising transport in urban areas. The network is designed to transport passengers at high speeds using electric vehicles in a network of underground tunnels, thus aligning with Dubai’s aim of becoming a sustainable and innovative city through this project, which is expected to transport thousands of passengers per hour at high speeds, hence reducing traffic while still fulfilling sustainable transport in Dubai by 2026, when it is expected to start operation.
