A suspect arrested by the Pune City police in a case of cybercrime fled from their custody when he was brought to the Sassoon General Hospital on Sunday morning.
According to the Pune police, Marshal Lilakar, a resident of Akurdi, was arrested by the cyber crime police station of Pune City Police two days ago. They said the suspect was at the hospital’s outpatient department for a check-up when he gave the police a slip.

When contacted, Vikrant Deshmukh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Cyber and Economic Offences Wing), said the suspect was brought to Sassoon Hospital on Sunday morning for a check-up after he complained of medical issues. “A search has been launched for the suspect,” Deshmukh said.
The exact circumstances under which the suspect escaped were not known immediately. The police said that an inquiry would be initiated into the response of the on-duty police guards at the time of the incident.
In October last year, drug cartel kingpin Lalit Patil who was admitted to a dedicated ward for prison inmates, had escaped from the Sassoon Hospital. He was nabbed by the Mumbai police two weeks later.
