The Nuh episode triggered mob attacks in parts of Palwal, Faridabad and Gurgaon, the most severe of them in the city’s south as houses and businesses of members of one community were targeted by another in Sohna in a rampage that saw several vehicles being set on fire and stone-pelting mobs daring cops to stop them.
Estimates put the number of injured in Monday’s attacks at 30. According to sources at Medanta, 13 police personnel were brought to the hospital around 5pm on Monday. Anil, an inspector injured in the Nuh violence, had a bullet injury in the stomach while Sajjan Singh, a DSP, had serious head injuries. At least 16 vehicles were set on fire, mostly in Sohna and Nuh.
With a swirl of videos and forwards on social media fanning tension, the Haryana government suspended internet and SMS services in Nuh and internet in Faridabad till August 2.
