ChatGPT 5.2 is launching this week as OpenAI looks to tackle Gemini 3 Pro ‘code red’ situation head on with more Pro-like feature.

Gemini 3 Pro has got OpenAI in a ‘code red’ situation
OpenAI has released the new ChatGPT 5.2 version as it looks to compete with the fast-evolving Gemini 3 model and offer better contextual responses and other features. Sam Altman, CEO, OpenAI has triggered a ‘code red’ situation at the company which means we might see faster ChatGPT rollouts and the GPT 5.2 version is probably starting that phase for the AI giant.
The company is calling ChatGPT 5.2 as its most advanced model for professional work, which includes creating presentations and handling other heavy duty tasks like coding at both ends.
ChatGPT 5.2 Is Here And It Goes Pro
The new ChatGPT 5.2 version seems to be targeting the enterprise user base which is where OpenAI has more room to experiment and introduce new advanced features for the higher tier plans. The new AI model is offered in three versions, ChatGPT 5.2 Instant, 5.2 Thinking and 5.2 Pro.
“GPT-5.2 Thinking is designed to help with real, economically valuable tasks — the kind of work professionals do every day: building spreadsheets and presentations, writing and reviewing production code, analyzing long documents, coordinating tools, and executing complex projects from start to finish,” as highlighted by Nick Turley, head of ChatGPT in a post.
The other big change with GPT 5.2 is that it hallucinates less than the 5.1 version which makes the Thinking version resourceful for research and analysis purpose.
The ChatGPT 5.2 versions are going to be available for the paid tiers initially, including Go, and we hope to see them offered with the ChatGPT Go free deal that users in India are getting from OpenAI. GPT 5.1 will continue to be available under legacy models but only for three months after which everyone will be switched to ChatGPT 5.2 model.
Bringing ChatGPT 5.2 is important, especially since Gemini 3 Pro already has all these features covered but also because OpenAI is now worried about the might of Google and its unlimited resources to get ahead in the race. The company talks about the new model scoring in most benchmarks which is an indirect dig at Gemini 3 but only the real usage results matter and that’s where ChatGPT 5.2 needs to show that the company’s code red is well and truly taking shape.
