Concerns Over Public Services in Delhi
Kejriwal elaborated on the discussion, asking the BJP supporter about his children’s education. The supporter acknowledged that they studied in a government school in Delhi. Kejriwal then compared this with the condition of schools in BJP-ruled states and warned that if he did not win, Delhi’s government schools would deteriorate.
“I asked him about the electricity bill he receives in Delhi. You get free education, free electricity, and free health treatment in Delhi. This all will stop if I don’t win,” he stated. Kejriwal underscored the benefits his administration had provided, arguing that they would be at risk if AAP lost power.
Allegations Against the Election Commission
On Friday, Kejriwal sent a letter to the Election Commission of India (ECI), raising concerns over its handling of the ongoing Yamuna water dispute. He accused the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar of targeting him while ignoring Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s role in the crisis.
“If we had not protested and raised a hue and cry, one crore people of Delhi would have stopped getting water. ECI has sent me a notice asking why no action is taken. I saved Delhi from a water crisis, and I am being threatened with punishment. Instead of filing an FIR and taking action against Nayab Saini, the Election Commission is after me,” Kejriwal stated.He further alleged that neighbouring states were influencing elections by controlling water supply. “Neighbouring states of election states can influence elections by stopping water,” he claimed.
Accusations of Election Malpractice
Kejriwal also criticised the Election Commission for allegedly overlooking electoral malpractices in Delhi. “Money, sarees, shoes and jackets are being openly distributed in Delhi but the Election Commission is silent. ECI does not show the courage to take action against BJP today,” he said.
He expressed his frustration at the Commission’s inaction while reiterating his stand on the water crisis.
Willingness to Face Consequences
Despite these allegations, Kejriwal stated that he was ready to face any penalty imposed on him. “Whatever punishment is given to me, I will accept it. We have not taken time from the Election Commission. If we meet them, then it is fine; otherwise, we will come to the gate and give our answer and water bottle to the three commissioners,” he said.
Kejriwal’s statements come amid a tense political atmosphere, with AAP facing scrutiny while campaigning for the upcoming elections.
