New Delhi: Apollo Hospitals has partnered with Microsoft to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) and digital transformation into healthcare delivery. This collaboration will focus on co-innovation, research, and developing advanced healthcare solutions, including work on disease progression, genomics, and multi-modal models.
Dr. Madhu Sasidhar, President and CEO of Apollo Hospitals, emphasized the transformative potential of the partnership, stating that it aims to build intellectual property and expand Apollo’s global remote healthcare platform. The collaboration also includes plans for an AI roadmap to enhance patient outcomes and support healthcare professionals, contributing to the concept of a “Hospital of the Future.”
The partnership identifies four healthcare copilots—for clinicians, patients, nurses, and hospital operations—designed to streamline healthcare processes. The goal is to integrate AI-driven tools into hospital operations and create scalable healthcare models for markets beyond India.
The announcement comes in the backdrop of Microsoft’s broader initiatives in India, which include partnerships across key sectors such as healthcare, finance, and education. These efforts align with India’s increasing use of AI, which jumped from 63 per cent adoption in 2023 to 72 per cent in 2024, according to a study by IDC.
India’s healthcare sector, facing challenges such as increasing disease burden and the need for accessible care, is expected to benefit significantly from AI applications. Apollo Hospitals’ partnership with Microsoft is one of several strategic collaborations aimed at leveraging technology to address systemic healthcare challenges while fostering innovation.
