India strengthened its air defence capability after the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully completed user evaluation trials of the Akash Next-Generation (Akash-NG) missile system on December 23. According to official statements from DRDO and the Ministry of Defence, the missile accurately intercepted multiple aerial threats during the trials.DRDO validated the Akash-NG’s ability to engage high-speed, low-altitude and long-range high-altitude targets, demonstrating precision, reliability and rapid response capability. The successful trials clear a major milestone and move the missile system closer to induction into the Indian Armed Forces.
