Initially planned for the casting of “Fantastic 4”, and seen in the first trailer, John Malkovich was finally cut off, as the director Matt Shakman revealed.
Many planned him, when his name had disappeared from the latest press releases to date, and it is now official: announced in the casting and even seen, at the turn of a plan, in the first trailer, John Malkovich will not be in the fantastic 4, because he was cut to editing the Marvel film expected on July 23 in our rooms.
“It was a heartbreak that not being able to include it in the final version of the film, because it is one of my favorite humans and one of my greatest inspirations”explains the director Matt Shakman to Varietywhen confirming the information. “There is no more inspiring more than the founder of the Steppenwolf Theater Company, in his way of evolving between theater, cinema and television. I was very honored that he came to play for us, in view of what he did on stage as an actor, and even as a director, in the same way as in the cinema, where he proved to be an actor full of capacities.”

The Walt Disney Pictures John Malkovich in the trailer of “Fantastic 4”
Winner of the Oscar for best actor in a supporting role in 1985, thanks to the seasons of the heart of Robert Benton, John Malkovich had however to have a very secondary role in the intrigue of the fantastic 4 and lend his features to the red ghost, nasty of Soviet origin created in 1963 in the comic books, while the cold war was in full swing. With his group of Super-Sincles, he presents himself as one of the historic enemies of the quartet and was to appear in one of the first sequences of the feature film, used to present the heroes to us.
“Many things have finished on the mounting room”
Most certainly the one that takes place as part of a television program, which is seen in the trailers and which will compensate for the fact that the story will not be a story. “Many things have finished on the mounting room”says Matt Shakman about him. “When we build this retro -future -futorialist world in the 1960s, introduce all these bad guys, these four main characters as a group and individuals, the idea of a child to come – there was too many things to balance in one and the same film, so that things had to be excluded to give it its final form.”
One can then wonder what was the point of calling on an actor of the scale of John Malkovich for such a small role, who should not have a future in the great history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but the explanation is in 2014, when Matt Shakman directed the actor (as well as Liam Hemsworth and Teresa Palmer) in the Thriller Hell Town, his first feature film decade of experience acquired in the world of series. It is perhaps by loyalty to the filmmaker that he had accepted this little participation that we will unfortunately not see in theaters.
