An Ahmedabad courtroom remanded alleged conman Kiran Patel in eight-day police custody on Saturday, after a Gujarat police staff introduced him from Jammu and Kashmir to the town.
Patel was in judicial custody in Jammu and Kashmir the place he was arrested for allegedly posing as a senior PMO official.
Patel was handed over to Gujarat police late Thursday afternoon after its request for his custody was granted by the courtroom of the chief judicial Justice of the Peace in Srinagar, an official stated.
Chaitanya Mandlik, the deputy commissioner of police at Ahmedabad crime department, instructed mediapersons on Saturday, “The crime department arrested Patel, who was in judicial custody in Srinagar, on Friday for a property fraud. He was dropped at Ahmedabad by street on Saturday.”
An FIR was registered Kiran Patel and his spouse Malini Patel primarily based on a dishonest criticism by Jagdish Chavda, brother of Gujarat BJP chief Jawahar Chavda, on March 22 in the detection of crime department police station in Ahmedabad.
Chavda alleged that the couple duped him of of Rs 15 crore in the title of renovating his residential property in Shilaj space of Ahmedabad in 2022.
Malini Patel was arrested on March 29, and remanded in six-day custody by an area courtroom in Ahmedabad, after which she was despatched to judicial custody.
Meanwhile, the Ahmedabad Crime Branch will probe the conman’s instructional {qualifications}.
“We are solely tackling the case registered at our department for which he has been introduced right here. In this case, solely Patel and Malini are the accused.
