The suspension of cellular Internet companies has created issues for shopkeepers and distributors as online transactions via UPIs, together with GPay, Paytm and PhonePe are getting declined.
Many residents complained that one-time password (OTP) required for banking have been reaching them late.
“The footfall has gone down because the suspension of Internet. I needed to give money to a wholeseller as online cost failed,” mentioned Babbu, a shopkeeper.
Shopkeepers mentioned although they assist state authorities in sustaining legislation and order, a mechanism must be devised to clear online funds.
“Due to suspension of cellular Internet, prospects usually are not buying online anymore,” mentioned one other shopkeeper.
Ghanshyam Kansal, vice chairman, Sangrur District Industrial Chamber, mentioned, “The residents are receiving OTPs very late.”
