Vijay fans have been on the edge for the past week as it is yet unclear whether Leo will have early morning shows in Tamil Nadu. While the Tamil Nadu government has permitted theatre owners to hold five shows in a day, the producers of Leo aren’t ready to settle for it. K Ramachandran, Authorised Signatory of Seven Screen Studios, has moved the Madras High Court seeking permission to hold 4 am shows for the Vijay film in Tamil Nadu.
The petition has sought permission for six shows on the opening day and five shows from the 20th to 24th October to address the ‘insatiable desire’ of the fans. “I submit that adhering to the regulation I had submitted a representation letter dated 15 Sep 2023 to the Principal Secretary to Government, the Hon’ble Minister, and the Hon’ble Chief Minister requesting permission to screen 6 shows on the opening day and 5 shows from 20th October to 24th October 2023. On the opening day ie., 19.10.2023 the 1st show has been planned to be screened at 4 am to cater for the insatiable desire of the hard-core fans and from 7 am onwards from 20.10.2023,” read the petition.

K Ramachandran also cited Kerala and Karnataka states as examples of allowing early morning shows to handle the demand. “I submit that the release date has created a huge furore and fan craze surrounding the movie’s release. To cater for the unusual demand of viewership the states of Kerala and Karnataka have permitted an early morning timing extension from 4’o clock. In line with the neighbouring states, I had requested the same special show timings from 4 a.m. for the theatres in Tamil Nadu to manage overcrowding and fanfare on 19.10.2023.”
In reply to the petition, the Madras High Court has scheduled the hearing for October 17. The judgement will decide whether or not Leo will have early morning shows in Tamil Nadu. Till now, most theatres in Tamil Nadu have not opened the ticket booking for morning shows on the opening day of the movie. Meanwhile, tickets for such shows are sold out in Kerala and Karnataka.
Starring Sanjay Dutt, Trisha, Gautham Menon, and Arjun in important roles, Leo is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.
